Grand Canyon University

The Ken Blanchard College of Business

Grand Canyon is an interesting institution in that it’s a for-profit school yet is also a Christian-focused college. It was originally founded in 1949 as a non-profit liberal arts college, but was purchased about a decade ago when it was turned into its present incarnation. The college counts at least 40,000 students in attendance and focuses heavily on providing a Christian education to its students. The college has always been associated with local Arizona Southern Baptists and was originally created to help local kids get a bachelor’s or master’s degree at a religiously affiliated college without having to travel out of state. The closest colleges back then were far past the Mississippi River and required students to travel.

Students with this knowledge are incredibly important to businesses today as graduates may assist in maintaining corporate solvency, efficiency, and company profitability. Students are prepared to enter various leadership roles upon graduation from the program and are highly sought after by respected employers. The finance program helps students to work through problem solving and quantitative research to find solutions to difficult business-centric problems. MBA students are expected to work as leaders within their companies and graduation from Grand Canyon University’s program ensures that students aren’t destined for entry-level, low-paying jobs. Students emerge from the program with vital critical thinking skills that help ensure the success of any company with which a student decides to work.
