Master of Accounting Online Degree Programs in Oklahoma

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, one of the reasons that accredited online accounting degree programs in Oklahoma and other states are growing in popularity is because careers in the field are expected to grow by 10 percent. Much of this is because there is a greater need for financial oversight in both the public and private sector. In addition, as businesses grow increasingly global, there is a need for accountants to provide expertise in trade, mergers and acquisitions on the international level.

In 2016, there were over 13,500 accountants in Oklahoma with an average salary of $70,480, higher than the national average of $68,150. One reason that master’s in accounting programs are important is that most states now require 150 credit hours of college study to sit for the Certified Professional Accounting (CPA) examination. Because bachelor’s degrees are often only 120 credits, students must further their education in order to sit for the examination. Master’s degree programs meet this requirement in most states.
